Hi everyone, just a quick question. A friend has given me a large bag of sunflower bird-seeds. The bag has ripped open and I need to get rid of the seeds pretty quickly as I don't want to feed the local mice population - the birds kenna take any more, Captain! :) I know I can pop the seeds in a container but I was wondering, if I plant them out ( Read more... )

We're heading into the colder months here so there's a bit less to do in the garden. I recently quit my job to focus on study so in order to save a bit of money I've been putting in edibles where ever I can fit them. Silverbeet, english spinach, beetroot, beans and lots of herbs.  so, first of all, i have to confess that i'm more of a cook than a gardener. BUT i've been fantasising about starting a kitchen garden, just to have fresh produce on hand because it tastes so much better. i'm about to move into a new apartment, with a large private balcony, so my fantasy should soon become a reality ( Read more... )

It's been awhile since I've posted and I recently moved house so I thought I'd post some pictures of my new garden.  When we moved in the garden was rather overgrown and full of weeds (seems the last tenant wasn't much of a gardener). There's still a lot of work to do but the roses especially have shown a lot of improvement.
